When everyone is after the cloud buzz word why not Mozilla too ? no wait, you are mistaken. Mozilla labs is not talking about the ubiquitos cloud computing here but they refering to the fictional city mentioned in Star Wars. Anyway π
Bespin is an online editor with collaborative features and a sleek interface with emacs, vi code bindings. And it is much similar to CodePad.org
The project page says: Bespin is a Mozilla Labs experiment on how to build an extensible Web code editor using HTML 5 technology.
Signing for an accout was quick and then I could import the http://sparksupport.com project which we are undertaking now. But when I tried to preview the simplest PHP pages I got errorΒ 500 the internal server error from the bespin webserver. So the product is in absolute beta and now I expect more changes in the future. Good work guys and way to go!
Some screen shots are attached below:
Bespin dash board listing files
error 500 shown by Bespin server when asked to process and PHP file
When asked show the preview of the PHP file, the Bespin server fails. May be I was not supposed to ask Bespin to run a PHP script ?
Wish List:
The CLI should be made context sensitive ie
prject project_name should change the context to project_name and after that
open file_name should open a file in the context project_name etc
Basically the Cisco / Alcatel-Lucent router CLI syntax.
